My name is David Spedden and I am excited to run for Town Council.

Why Am I Running?

I am inspired to be part of a growing and prosperous community. I care about this community and want to serve it by addressing quality-of-life issues in Mount Pleasant such as the increasing traffic congestion, preserving and creating more parks and green spaces, cycling access, equitable housing, and controlled growth.

There are many development projects that are just now being executed. Our infrastructure is under stress not only from new developments in Mount Pleasant but also from growth in surrounding communities.

I would like to introduce, again, the idea of districts or wards in Mount Pleasant. There has been exponential growth in the past five years, especially in upper Mount Pleasant, and that does not look like it is slowing down.

There is a lack of representation from upper Mount Pleasant on the Town Council. We need to balance that through creating districts or wards.
